On the evening of 8th November, the Government of India announced that Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 banknotes would no longer be legal tender from midnight.

As of October this year, we are 2565 residents in Auroville from 52 nations. Looking at the population numbers over the years (see Figure 1: Total number of residents from 1997 to 2016), we seem to be coasting along nicely.
