Lorraine Freeman

Lorraine passed away on March 25th, at the age of 76 at Mahalakshmi home where she had been living for the last years. Lorraine hailed from the United States, where she had worked as a nurse.

Integrated Animal Care Centre (IACC) was started in 2005. It is a legacy of Ann Plummer. She was known as “Animal Care Ann” as she used to give food and look after stray dogs and cats.

In memoriam - Dany Foureau

Dany Foureau

On February 4, Dany Foureau unexpectedly passed away due to sudden cardiac arrest in her room in the Mukti Complex near the AV Health Centre.

Animal Care in Auroville

It is common in India to see uncared stray dogs roaming the streets. For many years, until April 2005, a long time Aurovilian, Ann Plummer from New Zealand, known in Auroville as ‘Animal Care Ann’, provided food and care for the stray dogs and cats in the surrounding villages of Auroville, and to a lesser extent within Auroville.

Abandoned pets

The Working Committee has warned of a growing culture of people from outside abandoning their pets at the doorstep of Integrated Animal Care Centre (IACC) and also within other Auroville premises, such as the Town Hall.

In memoriam - Luise Hansen

A few weeks before her 100th birthday, Luise Hansen left her body on April 21st in Kobe, Japan. Luise, originally from Linz, Austria, had come to Pondicherry in the late sixties and had some personal darshans with The Mother.
